Our very low-key holiday weekend left a lot of time for reflecting over the year's past events.
It's true 2010 provided some seriously tough times, but one of the best parts of writing this blog is that it urges me to highlight the happier ones.
So, on that note, here's my best of everything under the sun for 2010.
starting this
blog and 'meeting' so many wonderful people
adopting
these furry monsters
making the Etsy
front page more times than I could have imagined
seeing my
ladies mutiple times!
{ what made your list for 2010? }

On Sunday the hubbers and I met my cousin, his wife and their adorable little munchkin
( who was dressed up as a dragon! ), at
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium for......
ZOOLIGHTS!
I've never been before, so I was pretty hyper excited.
(I really like the way the light is bouncing off the tree.)
Aquarium!
Walruses!
(Walrusi? Walri? We never did figure that out.)
Looking out across the park.
Ah, who could forget the Christmas Musk Ox?
The kittens were sick all weekend (better now, thank jeebus),
so this was definitely the highlight ours.

I can't believe I only worked a combined total of one day last week. Amazing. But now I feel all discombobulated being back to the daily grind. These past 4 days went by much too quickly. Sigh.
So here's some lessons I learned from this weekend's madness:
1. If you are going to make pie, don't ever forget to add sugar. Also helps if you have had more than 4 hours sleep.
2. Always look for that stupid plastic bag of guts inside the turkey BEFORE you cook it.
3. Never underestimate the amount of people that will line up outside of Target on Black Friday. I swear to jeebus it was like 300 people. Insanity.
4. My baby cousins are the cutest girls alive. Highlights from our family gathering:
Peyton running down the hallways shouting her own name "Peeeeytooooon!"
Parker perfectly ennunciating "Peyton. Is afraid. Of da dogs."
I can't wait until Evie starts talking...
How do I have no photos from this party???
For those of you who joined me in my
"live" blogging adventures, it was wonderful to have you along. Cooking for only 2 other people feels a bit lonely at times, so it was nice to share the misadventures with you all.
{ so. how was your weekend? }
Pssssssst - the Thanksgiving meal did turn out well. nearly everything was edible, and nothing caught on fire. win!

On Saturday, the hubbers and I fought massive traffic jams and headed to
The Puyallup Fair. It's one of the top 10 largest fairs in the world, so it's quite the spectacle really. We visited the barns, ate the beloved
Krusty Pups and wandered around the brighly lit rides.
The fair always looks better at night...
....doncha think?
ps - We waited about 30 minutes in line for these ( because they are the most delicious
scones of all time).
Check back tomorrow, where I'll share some more of our Fair adventure...
{ have you been to a fair? }

Aaaahhh...that's the sound of the end of a relaxing three day weekend
(or is it 'Waaaaahh!' ?). The hubbers and I did make it into the city for some shop hopping, where he ended up scoring better than I (
how did that happen?). It seems like I've become exceedingly picky picky picky about clothing these days.
I did walk away with these super cute little
ankle socks.
(I'm wearing the gray ones today with red heels! hello, fall. :D )
I think ankle socks will help keep my tights infatuation at bay, at least until the weather's a bit cooler.
I also snapped up this navy blue
sweater from American Eagle. I'm in love with the detailing!
PS - Target has some super duper soft plaid flannel shirts for a STEAL, but their stupid website won't let me grab a photo. Go
here if you're interested.
(I bought the red one and the yellow one...I just couldn't resist!)
We also went on a super touristy (but fun) tour
(more about that another day), painted an indecisive wall in our living room and rescued Fifi from a torn claw
(bloody paws looks about a BILLION times worse on a white kitty. frownfrownfrown!). Other than that last bit, it was a lovely and low key weekend.

Happy three day weekend to all my American readers !
And you know what that means - Labor Day sale shopping ! The hubbers and I are planning to head into the city this weekend, so I've compiled my list of must-sees, to update my fall wardrobe.
( Lists = faster shopping = less whining. I'm sure you all know how this goes. :P )
Just a
few of the
pretties I plan on browsing at
Anthropologie. I definitely need a good belt this season!
( have I mentioned we live in BFE, so an outing to anthro hasn't happened in like MONTHS. )
I seriously need some office appropriate
plaid. I think I can make this J. Crew top work with the right skirt.
Definitely going to have to check out
Nordstroms accessory
selections for fall. It's always been a great place to find inspiration
(especially since many of the 'me likees' fall wah-ay out of my budget).
10 to 1 odds I get left in Seattle. Who wants to give me ride home?? : P
{ so, what's on your plate this weekend? }
pssst! - I'll be back to posting on Tuesday. See you then !
