There are pluses and minuses to red-eye flights.

It's interesting to venture into a city that is just waking up.  The sunlight does beautiful things to the architecture.

In place of the teeming masses that normally engulf a popular tourist destination,
there is only quiet.

Of course as the day wears on, and the crowds begin to gather, the mind that's been at rest a mere 2 hours the night before, things start to go a little pear shaped...

The photography begins to degrade, and thoughts best left un-articulated slip out.

Such as...

"Who is Barry, and why is there a statue dedicated to him?"

or "SECOND national bank?  Well.  Where's the FIRST ONE?"
 (turns out the foreign tourists did not know.)

And then all pretense of paying homage to the city that founded our country is set aside, in favor of documenting impressively detailed grafitti.

American history humor FTW.

Oh, pretty tree.

Then later, at the main event, one might forget to change one's lighting settings, so everything appears to be bathed in a warm glow...

Just to sum things up, this photo is entitled "omg centerpiece."

I sincerely apologize to any of you who were looking forward to learning more about Philly.
I clearly know nothing.

{ do you fly "red eye" ? }

Psssssssssst! -  are you taking the pledge?  grab my button if you're in!

Happy Monday all.  My internets were down ALL weekend (grrrr!).  It was so hard to be unplugged, but honestly, it was so stifling h-o-t in my house, I'm not sure how much I'd have gotten accomplished anyways...

This weekend's (non-internetty) goals included:

1.  Get some much needed stitchery done.  A little preview of something new, I'm so terribly excited about this new project. : D

2.  Try to keep the kittens from suffocating in the 95+ degree weather.  It must be tough to wear a fur coat when it's so hot out.

3.  Attend a lovely outdoor wedding on Sunday.  Hubbers looks far too pleased with himself here.

And since I failed at Fashion Friday, here's a look at what I wore to the wedding.  I think it's funny to note, since I'm way short, and this dress is way short, it's entirely possible it's actually a shirt, and not a dress at all.

Whoopsies.

PS - I'm so happy to read your responses to this post.   And here's the answer to a couple of queries:

#7  I am not sure what to get yet.  I have a couple of ideas, but I'm so not going to rush into anything here.  I mean, it took me 3 years to talk myself into a navel piercing (now gone).

#8  for my dear international readers, "guns" refers to one's arm muscles.  Typically stated while flexing and air kissing one's bicep.  I used to have decently toned arms, but it's fallen to the wayside.

#9   I have no idea where I'm going to go yet.  Suggestions?

{ so now that we're caught up...how was your weekend? }

...I married the silliest, funnest, handsomest man alive (or at least I think so!). Thought I'd share some of my favorite photos from that happy day, since hopefully next year we'll be on a beach in Hawai'i!

{ june 3rd, 2006 }

Photos come from the lovely Monica, who's flickr has some truly fab-u-lous pics, and my little bro, who I had no idea was even taking pictures that day. :D

{ time flies, doesn't it? }

An explanation for my blogosphere absence:

...we went to Chicago for the weekend!

We attended the lovely wedding of a very dear, old friend. I just adore the colors the bride picked out -- a deep teal, and a sunny yellow!

It was a beautiful occasion, and we are so happy for the both of them.

We got our groove on....

...and then had a lovely stroll around the city.

Millenium Park had a lot of cool things I'd never seen before. My favorites were the 'Crown Fountain' by Jaume Plensa (above).....

.....and the 'bean' sculpture by Anish Kapoor. (No one calls it by it's real name, 'Cloud Gate.' It's just referred to as 'the bean.')

I call this one 'self portrait.'

{ to the happy couple! }
